Andreas Bennetzen

Andreas Bennetzen a.k.a. Andy Benz is a one man electric double bass band using Live Looping. Classically trained but heavily influenced by the styles of electronic music he creates soothing and groovy music and adds a new perspective to double bass playing.

Andy Benz is a true cross-over musician who spans many genres from jazz to classical, dub to avantgarde and instrumental electronic music. In Denmark he has played with the finest classical ensembles and performed and recorded with the best electronic, jazz, reggae and indie artists. Andy Benz is a character who dresses in the robes of the symphony musician, but turns to electric double bass and live looping to fulfill his musical dreams. His musical background is dub, soul, hip-hop and reggae from home. The jazz and blues in the music workshop in Bernadotte School as a kid and his 20 years as a classical double bassist. This has made him a musician who feels equally at home playing in a symphony orchestra in concert halls as performing in the sweaty clubs and big concert venues.

The album "Flowing in Circles" was released in USA and Denmark the 25th of june 2009 and contains 9 original compositions for electric double bass recorded live with effects and loop machines that makes the music move, groove and flow in circles. It's an instrumental journey through Andy Benz musical career with inspirations from the genres and art forms he has worked with during the last 10 years.

How the artist describes the album:

"Life, life is a loop. Earth spins around the sun, the moon spins around the earth, we live, we die, species come, species go-planets stops their loops and new ones start spinning. The music is based on loops-long and short ones. There is the loop of 'Kismet' with it's undefinable rhythm, the house inspired loop of 'Step on it' with the distinctive 4 feel and the dub inspired 'MS Dub' with it's massive bass line. All performed with loop machines and the electric double bass, my main inspiration"
